Dreams

We go so far, chasing fantasies, 
running on a path of broken dreams, 
reaching for things that cannot be reached, 
scarring ourselves, our foolish hopes breached. 
we live without knowing what life is, 
can ignorance really be bliss? 
Wishing and hoping feverishly 
in our cages of judgement, can we be free? 
Human nature, conform or die, 
we yearn for happiness while we silently cry. 
A shining exterior, looks can deceive, 
we smile at others while inside we greive. 
Look past the outside, search deep within, 
If pleasure's from pain, is heaven a sin? 
We sit there and laugh as we watch other's pain, 
why are we angered by what others gain? 
These questions are complex yet simple as well, 
One person's answer can create hell. 
I wish I could show you, then you'd understand, 
but of course, you won't leave your fantasy land...
